Yes, of course. The LDAP control will work with any directory server including Active Directory as well as those from Novell, Sun, Siemens, OpenLDAP.
Active Directory requires an explicit Bind before you can perform a Search, so you'll need to make sure that you use the Bind method prior to calling Search.
