IP*Works! Secure Tunnel

Add Instant SSL Security To Any Server!

IP*Works! Secure Tunnel adds SSL functionality to any server. With secure tunnel you can upgrade your existing server to a secure server with minimal effort and time. There is no need to go through the painstaking and costly process of setting up individual secure servers.

Secure Tunnel is not limited to the World Wide Web. Secure Tunnel can make any type of server secure. For email security you can configure Secure Tunnel to enable a secure SMTP or POP server. Secure Tunnel works with FTP to create secure connections for file transfer. With Secure Tunnel you can even add SSL functionality to proprietary systems.

New Features in IP*Works! Secure Tunnel Version 2.0

We continue to improve and update IP*Works! Secure Tunnel with new and powerful features.  This release includes:

  • Support for multiple NIC’s and IP addresses - New support for multi-homed systems allows you to bind connectors to a specified local IP address on machines with multiple network interfaces.
  • Secure client authentication using digital certificates - Individual connectors can now be set to force client authentication when attempting to securely connect to IP*Works! Secure Tunnel.
  • Enhanced Firewall support for Secure FTP - It is now possible to specify a port range for FTP connections tunneling through IP*Works! Secure Tunnel. Network administrators need only open the Firewall ports specified in the configurable Secure Tunnel port range to enable secure FTP tunneling to internal servers.
  • Extendable logging interface - An extendable logging interface is now available for IP*Works! Secure Tunnel via a plug-in DLL. This powerful feature allows developers to create custom extensions that can react to incoming and outgoing connections and data. By extending IP*Works! Secure Tunnel you can easily build and integrate advanced filters and notification services.
  • Use certificates without installing them – IP*Works Secure Tunnel can now import certificates from standard PFX files without requiring the certificate be imported to a certificate store.

How does it work?

Clients connect securely (via SSL or TLS) to IP*Works! Secure Tunnel. Secure Tunnel then handles any necessary encryption or decryption, and then forwards the data stream to your existing server.

A single copy of IP*Works! Secure Tunnel can enable security on multiple servers. Instead of configuring different servers on multiple machines you only have to go through one trouble-free setup. Configure Secure Tunnel with the address and port information of the generic servers to connect with and start the service.

There is no need to install new servers and reconfigure them to access your internal resources. Your existing systems remain unchanged.

Server authentication based on digital certificates.

Digital certificates are used to bind a servers identity to its public keys. It is also possible to bind other security-related information to the certificate as well.

Secure FTP

IP*Works! Secure Tunnel can be configured to handle FTP servers. With Secure Tunnel you can turn your generic FTP server into a secure FTP server without reconfiguring your FTP server setup.

Server Load Distribution

With Secure Tunnel you can increase the performance of your existing secure server. Do this by setting Secure tunnel on a separate machine and configuring it to connect with your previously secure server. This spreads the processing of the encryption and decryption to another dedicated machine effectively increasing your existing servers performance.

Works In Plaintext Mode Too!

IP*Works! Secure Tunnel supports both SSL and non-SSL servers Secure Tunnel can be used in SSL or plain text mode. This is useful for capturing and debugging network data.

Supported Platforms

Windows NT4 (SP4 and above), Windows 2000, Windows XP and later. Special setup steps needed for Windows 95/98.
