Type 8 Packets in ICMP

The ICMP component can be used to receive ICMP packets on Windows systems, except for Type 8 (echo request) packets. This is due to a limitation in the Windows networking stack, which does not deliver incoming ICMP Type 8 packets to user applications, while still allowing other ICMP packet types to pass through. This behavior is controlled by Windows rather than by the component, so it applies to any application that receives ICMP packets using raw sockets.

Note that in older versions of IPWorks, this component was named ICMPPort.
