Important Update for QuickBooks Integrator Customers

Update QuickBooks Remote Connector to maintain remote access to QuickBooks Desktop

The Remote Connector application that ships with our /n software QuickBooks Integrators is affected by a recent change made to its digital certificate. This update affects all customers using the /n software QuickBooks Integrators to access QuickBooks Desktop remotely.

How does this affect me, and what should I do about it?

If you are using the /n software Remote Connector application, QuickBooks may not allow the Remote Connector to communicate with it.

To overcome the revoked certificate error, you will need to use the latest version of the Remote Connector application which has been signed with the updated SHA-256 certificate.

The latest version of the Remote Connector application is available for download at: http://www.nsoftware.com/hotfix/RemoteConnector.zip

Why has the Remote Connector certificate been revoked?

Windows Enforcement of Authenticode Code Signing on Windows (version 7 and higher) and Windows Server require SHA-256 certificates starting January 1st, 2016. See below for more details.

To comply with this policy the /n software code signing certificate was upgraded from SHA-1 to SHA-256. As part of this upgrade the old SHA-1 certificate used for the Remote Connector application was revoked.

Additional Information

The current certificate update is required in order to comply with current Windows security policies. You can find the Windows policy about Code Signing Certificates at:
