A developer

Research Triangle Park, NC - February 10, 1998 - devSoft Inc. announces the release of the Beta version of Internet Commerce Kit (ICK), a developer's toolkit for secure access and manipulation of Internet data. The toolkit includes native Internet and Intranet development components for popular development environments such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, Borland C++ Builder, Borland Delphi, and others.

With the proliferation of web server development platforms, there is increased demand for securely exchanging data between commerce sites and client applications. devSoft's ICK includes an HTTPS components for securely transferring data and an XML component for easy parsing and transformation of retrieved data. Standard FTP and HTTP controls are also included, as well as NetDial control for managing dialup connections.

XML (the eXtensible Markup Language) is rapidly becoming the universal format for data on the Web. It allows developers to easily describe and deliver rich, structured data from any application in a standard, consistent way, making possible the creation of more sophisticated web applications. devSoft's release of an XML parser component, underlines the company's commitment to this emerging technology, placing it in a unique position among Internet tool providers.

The package comes in three Editions: ActiveX controls, C++ classes and native Borland C++ Builder VCLs. The controls use internally multithreading for all blocking calls to avoid 'freezing' during waiting calls. The communication components use Microsoft's Win32 Internet library internally. The controls include properties to enable their use in environments that do not support events, such as Active Server Pages (ASP). All components have easy and intuitive interfaces, complete help files and sample applications. ICK may be downloaded from devSoft's web site at http://www.dev-soft.com/ for free evaluation.
