December 21, 1998, Research Triangle Park, NC - devSoft Inc. today announced it
has begun shipping IPWorks C++ Edition for Windows CE. IPWorks for Windows
CE is a complete set of components for developing Internet applications for the
Windows CE platform. An ActiveX version containing ActiveX Controls for use
within Microsoft Visual Basic for Windows CE will be released during the first
quarter of 1999.
IPWorks C++ Edition for Windows CE
Based on devSoft's award-winning Internet programming toolkit IPWorks which
is used by most Fortune 500 companies and thousands of independent developers,
the new product eliminates much of the complexity of developing connected
applications for Windows CE. A trial version and online orders are available at
http://www.dev-soft.com/.
IPWorks ActiveX Edition for Windows CE
IPWorks ActiveX Edition for Windows CE is slated for release during the first
quarter of 1999. Continuing on the tradition of IPWorks ActiveX Edition, the
package will contain easy to use 32 bit ActiveX Controls suitable for Microsoft
Visual Basic for Windows CE and other development environments supporting
ActiveX Controls such as Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows CE.
About IPWorks
IPWorks contains simple high-level programmable components such as interfaces
to Internet Mail and Usenet News, as well as powerful TCP/IP programming tools
used to build generic clients and servers. All controls have simple, yet
powerful, interfaces that shield developers from the complexity of TCP/IP
programming while giving them access to a wide spectrum of Winsock features.
Corporate developers will find the features they need to quickly enable their
applications to participate in a TCP/IP network without steep learning curves.
Internet developers will find fast components with small footprints that
provide excellent performance over dialup links. IPWorks runs on top of the
industry standard Winsock API and implements standard protocols specified in
Internet RFCs.
Features -- IP*Works for Windows CE
The IP*Works for Windows CE package consists of 16 C++ classes packaged in a 32
bit DLL, and is very similar to IPWorks C++ Edition for Win32. The classes
contain native implementations of popular Internet protocols such as HTTP, FTP,
SMTP/POP, NNTP, Telnet, Rshell/Rexec, and much more. The package is priced at
$995 per developer. The price includes royalty-free distribution for all the
supported platforms.
A trial version of IPWorks C++ Edition for Windows CE is available for
download from http://www.dev-soft.com/. Sample applications that demonstrate
