The Most Comprehensive Internet Development Toolkit In The Industry Now With Support For Windows CE
Denver, June 7th, 1999, Windows CE Developers Conference. devSoft Inc. - www.dev-soft.com - today announced it has begun shipping its IPWorks Internet Toolkit Version 4.0. This new version contains 22 Internet Programming Components for the Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows CE operating systems, making IPWorks the most comprehensive Internet Toolkit of its kind.
Initially introduced in 1995, IPWorks is actively used by most Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies, as well as thousands of independent software developers worldwide. The product eliminates much of the complexity of developing connected applications for Windows platforms.
The range of functionality covered by this release is wider than that of most competing products put together. Coupled with the excellent performance record of the package, and devSoft's royalty-free licensing policy, IPWorks is an excellent value for anyone developing connected applications today.
An important addition to this new release is full support for the Windows CE platform. IPWorks provides both easy-to-use ActiveX Controls and a Visual C++ Class Library for Windows CE-based development. The controls allow developers easy access to Internet Email, News, Web Sites, FTP Servers, Internet Directory Servers, Internet Paging, Remote Host Access, and a lot more.
"devSoft's support of Windows CE benefits developers who want to build connected solutions," said Tony Barbagallo, group product manager, Windows CE at Microsoft Corp. "Products such as devSoft's IPWorks Internet Toolkit, combined with the power and ease of use of ActiveX Controls and the Microsoft Visual C++ development system, make developing connected applications for Windows CE easier than ever."
IPWorks contains simple high-level programmable components such as interfaces to Internet Mail and Usenet News, as well as powerful TCP/IP programming tools used to build generic clients and servers. All controls have simple, yet powerful, interfaces that shield developers from the complexity of TCP/IP programming while giving them access to a wide spectrum of Winsock features. Corporate developers will find the features they need to quickly enable their applications to participate in a TCP/IP network without steep learning curves. Internet developers will find fast components with small footprints that provide excellent performance over dialup links. IPWorks runs on top of the industry standard Winsock API and implements standard protocols specified in Internet RFCs.
This release includes a total of 22 components: FTP, HTTP, ICMPPort, IMAP, IPDaemon, IPInfo, IPPort, LDAP, Multicast, MIME, MX, NNTP, NetCode, NetDial, POP, Rexec, Rshell, SMTP, SNMP, SNPP, Telnet, UDPPort. They are provided as ActiveX Controls, Visual C++ Classes, Native C++ Builder VCLs, Native Delphi VCLs, C Libraries, and even 16 bit Visual Basic eXtensions (VBX) for legacy platforms.
IPWorks is immediately available for purchase directly from devSoft Inc. at http://www.dev-soft.com/ or authorized resellers worldwide.
