ICMPPort "Access Denied"

When the ICMPPort Active property is set to True a "[10013] Access Denied" error is received. The problem does not occur if the user running the application has Administrator rights on the workstation, only when logged in without administrator rights.

Microsoft Technet article Q195445 refers to Non-Admin access to Raw Socket in NT4.0 and Windows 2000.

The work around for NT is to disable the security check on RAW sockets by creating the following registry variable and setting its value to DWORD 1:


This fixes the problem with Non-Admin use of ICMPPort.
